CPU only task/agent still needs GPU
#1
Hi,

I want to test hashtopolis + an agent in a virt-manager qemu VM.

Since I don't have a real GPU there I'm trying to run a CPU only task.

I've set the Agent to
CPU only agent: YES

and the task
Is CPU only task: YES

Still the Agent throws these errors:

1.02.2022, 11:55:41
9
N/A
cuInit(): no CUDA-capable device is detected
21.02.2022, 11:55:41
9
N/A
clGetPlatformIDs(): CL_PLATFORM_NOT_FOUND_KHR
21.02.2022, 11:55:41
9
N/A
ATTENTION! No OpenCL-compatible, HIP-compatible or CUDA-compatible platform found.

Is there anything I can do, to run simple tasks just for some tests?

greetings

so if 'CPU only' doesn't make the agent or the task 'CPU only'. What does it do then?

This is a problem of hashcat, which always tries to find some GPUs when being called.
The simple solution to this issue is, to add parts of these errors (which are sent to the server and deactivating the agent) so the whitelist of accepted errors in the config at Config -> Server -> Cracking/Tasks (last entry of the settings, comma separated values).

this is my list in the Config -> Server

Ignore error messages from crackers which contain given strings (multiple values separated by comma)
[DeviceGetFanSpeed, tcmalloc, clGetPlatformIDs, OpenCL]

hope this can help
